ABOUT UPYOU<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

UPYOU formed in 2005 from the remnants of two very different former projects. Scott was the singer in ill-fated Liverpool garage-pop outfit The Big Wheels while Andy was recording dance music as Bill Payer & Fat Hippy / 3745 Soundsystem .

It's the strange combination of these two very different musicians that makes UPYOU special. First, there's Scott: embittered indie defector, classically trained multi-instru-mentalist, ex ladies man and general drunken trouble maker. Then, as the production mortar to Scott's melodic bricks, there's Andy: a computer whizz, techno-geek and producer extroardinaire.

Unsurprisingly, for chaps with such different backgrounds, the influences are diverse, ranging from detroit techno, minimal electro, italo and disco, to krautrock, psych, shoegaze and 'indie' (whatever that means now). What comes out in the mix is somewhere between all those things. Like a drunk 80's funk band with faulty amps or New Order remixed by Phil Collins.

Since they formed there's been recording, live shows, mini tours, mixtapes, DJ gigs and remixes, punctuated with a self-enforced break. Now in 2008 UPYOU are back, and ready to get stuck in again after finishing mixing their debut 7 track mini album, 'One'. The product of a few years work amid the woosy electrical hum of their Liverpool studios, the record has shaped up to be a lean mean hit-filled opus packed with one electronic pop hit after another.

With the record scheduled for release late this summer via all the main online sellers, UPYOU are looking to recruit a full band for live shows this year. When they do, expect live show so good, it's sure to give Klaxons the horn, and put Foals out to pasture.
